It's no secret that Canadian sensation Sam Davies is one of the most promising producers to emerge on our roster of late. A versatile talent, Sam has treated us to a wide range of emotive productions, from downtempo to peak-hour progressive. His recent offerings have elegantly and evocatively explored the deeper shades of progressive; "Northern Lights" which now witnesses a remix by fellow Canadian veteran Dezza, is no exception.
Sam's soul-enriching "Northern Lights" showcases the composer in vintage form: an infectious, full-bodied bassline carries the groove, until it's upstaged by equally hook-y vocal sequence. In the main break, we are met by a gorgeous piano solo, while a variety of high-octave side melodies further tickle the listener's ear.
Now entering his 10th consecutive year as an active producer, progressive house pioneer Dezza proves that his ear for the underground has only grown more refined with time. In the opening minutes of the arrangement, a deep and dark groove creates space for the main vocal riff to take center stage. As the groove patiently crescendoes, a variety of mesmerizing arp lines begin to creep into the mix, imbuing the cosmic soundscape with a sense of (hallucinogenic) wonder.

This song gets me right in the feels. I can never think of a word to describe this feeling that certain songs and chord progressions give me, but this definitely gives me that feeling. I Always just want to put on a pair of nice headphone and bop my head to the lovely sounds of Shingo. Maddie Farnsworth
